Portals Dev Update: July Edition

GM builders. Here is the latest technical update on the Portals API, infrastructure changes, and upcoming endpoint overhauls, sourced directly from our July all-hands engineering sync.

📈 Growth, Usage & Reach

Our protocol coverage continues to expand rapidly. We have integrated over 90 new protocols into the Portals ecosystem. This expansion increases the surface area for developers building cross-protocol execution flows and data aggregators.

Portals Foresight adoption is accelerating among institutional players. Teams like Bizantine Finance are actively integrating the simulation API directly into their execution stacks.

This validates our approach to providing deterministic, pre-execution transaction tracing for complex DeFi operations.

Deep Historical Transaction Indexing

We have significantly upgraded our transaction indexing infrastructure. The Portals API now serves historical transaction data going back several months, rather than just recent activity.

Developers can query the transactions endpoint to retrieve deep historical data for yield opportunities. This includes slow-moving positions with transactions dating back 60+ days.

Our indexing architecture can now handle massive data throughput and provides integrators with a comprehensive view of protocol activity.

16 Billion Row Historical Data API

Our historical data infrastructure now houses between 16 and 18 billion rows of indexed on-chain data. This dataset is fully accessible via the Portals API.

Quants, researchers, and developers can leverage this data for rigorous backtesting. You can pull precise historical performance metrics to compare specific vaults.

For example, you can analyze how Morpho vaults managed by Steakhouse performed against Gauntlet vaults during specific market events. This level of granular, historical yield data is unprecedented in a single API integration.

V3 Portal Endpoint: Unified Execution

We are fundamentally overhauling the developer experience for transaction generation. The upcoming V3 Portal endpoint consolidates the entire quote, approval, and simulation flow into a single API request.

Previously, integrators had to manage a multi-step sequence: request a quote, parse the quote, check approval status, request approval calldata, and finally execute. The V3 endpoint eliminates this friction.

You simply request a swap, and the API returns the complete execution payload. This payload includes the full Foresight simulation data, the exact approval status, and the wallet-ready calldata. This unified endpoint is already powering the Portals Explorer and will be available to all integrators in the coming weeks.

Warp Drive 2: On-Chain Order Book Routing

We are finalizing Warp Drive 2, our next-generation routing engine. This upgrade introduces a sophisticated on-chain order book architecture. The new routing system utilizes Smart Order Routing (SOR) based on directed graph edges.

This graph-based approach allows the engine to discover highly optimized, multi-hop execution paths across fragmented liquidity sources. Warp Drive 2 will significantly improve execution pricing and reduce slippage for complex cross-chain zaps.

We will release full technical documentation on the graph architecture prior to the public launch.

Data Subscription Overhaul

We are restructuring our data API subscription tiers. As our data offerings expand to include 16+ billion rows of historical data and deep transaction indexing, we are updating our pricing models to reflect this value.
